On the afternoon of September 6, 2022, International University (VNU-HCM) officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City)..

The program is attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tien Khoa – Rector of International University, PGS.TS. Nguyen Thi Hiep – Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department at International University, PGS.TS. Nguyen Phuong Thao – Head of the International Relations Department, Director of the Infectious Disease Research Center (RCID) at International University – along with representatives from related departments. On the side of University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, there is PGS.TS BS. Nguyen Hoang Bac – Director of the Hospital, GS.TS BS. Truong Quang Binh – Deputy Director of the Hospital and leadership of various Departments and Divisions.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac stated:"As a teaching hospital of the university, scientific research is one of the three main focuses throughout the hospital's operation and development. The hospital integrates treatment, training, and scientific research to provide optimal healthcare solutions for the people. Therefore, based on societal needs, the development of International University, as well as the current capabilities of the hospital, the hospital believes that the cooperation will open up new directions, bringing valuable products to the community."

With the development direction as a research university, Prof. Dr. Tran Tien Khoa shared his joy in collaborating with the hospital to enhance scientific research activities, bringing practical value to community healthcare services: "We hope to have more cooperation programs in the future, creating opportunities for development and connection between the University and the Hospital."

This Memorandum of Agreement is prepared based on the cooperation in building training programs together with scientific research and technology transfer, prioritizing areas: Applied Technology Research; Collaboration and support in connecting with companies and corporations to implement production and commercialize research outcomes; Collaboration in research, scientific publication, and development of software based on the exploitation of clinical and pre-clinical data from University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, both parties will assign personnel and prepare infrastructure for teaching and scientific research purposes; receive students, learners, and staff from the other party for visits and internships when needed; cooperate in organizing academic exchange activities including but not limited to: conferences, seminars, and special topics.

After the official signing, both parties will jointly promote training, scientific research, and international relations of each side, helping both sides to cooperate in building and training some programs, enhancing professional information exchange, academic exchange, and research collaboration, as well as building high-quality human resources capable of working in both domestic and international environments.

Currently, besides the Department of Biomedical Engineering, other units of the International University such as the Department of Biotechnology and the Center for Infectious Disease Research are also implementing collaborative activities with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. This Memorandum of Understanding is considered an official declaration expressing the willingness to cooperate between the International University and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital with the aim of implementing the cooperative contents signed.
